Opera at Deutsche Oper am Rhein - Düsseldorf/Duisburg
Sara Blasco Gutiérrez is a dancer and choreographer of Spanish origin and was born in the city of Valencia. Sara started to develop her corporal technique from the early age of 4 when she started to train to become a rhythmic gymnast. Sara competed at national level in rhythmic gymnastics and holds a degree as national trainer. Searching for a more artful, creative and free form of expression Sara soon turned from rhythmic gymnastics to dancing and studied contemporary dance at the local Conservatory of Music and Dance under the guidance of the Maria Carbonell Dancingschool. At the same time, she completed a bachelor's degree in audiovisual communication at the Polytechnic University Valencia. In her hometown, she started her career as a dancer, choreographer and production assistant in the company María Carbonell while also working as a dancer in the company Eva Bertomeu. In addition, she was engaged in "Siegfried" (Wagner) and "Damnation of Faust" (Berlioz) in the production of La Fura dels Baus at the Opera Valencia. Since 2011 Sara lives in Cologne, Germany. In 2011 Sara started dancing at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Theater Bonn. In addition to her work at the opera, Sara is active as a freelance contemporary dancer in various companies in North Rhine Westphalia (Raum13, Novatanz, F.A.C.E and Bibiana Jiménez Dance Theater in Cologne, Artscenico e.V. in Dortmund and TanztheaterMobil in Aachen).
